Who the ACR Larchdale Wood Burning Stove suits best
The Larchdale is the flagship of the cast range and a genuinely big stove: 9kW nominal, up to 11.5kW, with a large window and 50cm log capacity. It is built for the biggest rooms we fit, barn conversion living spaces, large farmhouse kitchens and open-plan ground floors, where it becomes the main heat source rather than a supplement.
From the survey
Installation notes for the ACR Larchdale Wood Burning Stove
Two details set the installation apart: it takes a 150mm flue rather than 125mm, which we allow for in the liner or twin-wall specification, and at 136kg it gets a floor and hearth check on the survey as a matter of routine. The 740mm height and 665mm width want a generous chamber or a freestanding position that lets it breathe.
An honest steer
How it compares with similar models
The Ashdale at 7kW covers most large rooms, so the Larchdale is the answer to a specific question: does the space genuinely need 9kW or more? In barn conversions and open-plan spaces it often does, and the 50cm logs and huge window reward the choice. In anything smaller, we will honestly steer you down the range.
Fitting it locally
Fitting the ACR Larchdale Wood Burning Stove in Yorkshire homes
DEFRA approved for wood burning in smoke control areas, though its natural habitat is the rural end of our patch: the barns of Ryedale, the farmhouses around Bedale and Thirsk, and the big stone houses of the dales edge, where a stove this size runs all winter as the heart of the home.

Common questions
ACR Larchdale Wood Burning Stove FAQs
What size room needs an ACR Larchdale?
A big one. As a rough guide 9kW suits around 125 cubic metres of typical space, a large open-plan room or barn conversion living space. We measure on the survey, and if the room does not need it we will say so.
What length logs does the Larchdale take?
Up to 50cm, the longest in the ACR cast range. That means standard-cut logs go in without trimming and the firebox holds a proper overnight-scale fill.
Does the Larchdale need a bigger flue?
Yes, a 150mm flue rather than the more common 125mm. We specify the right liner or twin-wall system for it from the start, a detail that catches out quotes done without a survey.
Is the Larchdale suitable as a main heat source?
In the right space, yes. With up to 11.5kW available and a working range from 4.5kW it can carry a large room through a Yorkshire winter, and for stoves in daily hard use we usually recommend the higher grade 904 liner.
