Who the ACR Rowandale Multifuel Stove suits best
The Rowandale is the widescreen stove of the cast iron family. Its panoramic window is the widest view of the flames ACR makes in this range, and the wide firebox takes 40cm logs, a practical everyday advantage. It suits rooms where the fire is the evening entertainment: period living rooms, farmhouse kitchens and anywhere the view matters as much as the warmth.
We know this stove well, having fitted it at Scarcroft in Leeds behind a restored period surround and at Nether Poppleton near York on a reclaimed York stone hearth with an oak beam.
From the survey
Installation notes for the ACR Rowandale Multifuel Stove
At 555mm wide it wants a slightly wider chamber than the Oakdale, which we measure for on the survey. The 125mm flue suits most lined chimneys, the hearth requirement is the simple 12mm decorative standard, and the strong airwash earns its keep by keeping that big window clear in normal use.
An honest steer
How it compares with similar models
Choose the Rowandale over the Oakdale for the wider window and the longer 40cm logs; choose the Oakdale when the fireplace is compact. The Ashdale gives more output at 7kW if the room is genuinely larger, but for view-of-the-fire per pound the Rowandale is the family favourite, and the one our customers photograph most.
Fitting it locally
Fitting the ACR Rowandale Multifuel Stove in Yorkshire homes
DEFRA approved for smoke control areas, and proven on our own patch: our Scarcroft and Nether Poppleton case studies are both Rowandales, one in a Leeds period renovation, one on York stone under an oak beam. It is the cast stove we are asked for by name most often.

Common questions
ACR Rowandale Multifuel Stove FAQs
Why choose the ACR Rowandale over other cast iron stoves?
The panoramic window. It is the widest view of the fire in the ACR cast range, backed by a strong airwash that keeps the glass clear in normal use, and a wide firebox that takes 40cm logs.
Have you fitted the Rowandale locally?
Yes, twice recently: at Scarcroft in Leeds behind a carefully restored period timber surround, and at Nether Poppleton near York on a reclaimed York stone hearth beneath an oak beam. Both are on our case studies pages.
Can the Rowandale burn smokeless fuel?
Yes. It is a true multifuel stove with a proper grate, so it burns seasoned logs or authorised smokeless fuels, and its DEFRA exemption covers wood burning in smoke control areas.
What size room does the Rowandale suit?
Its 5kW nominal output with a 3.5 to 7.5kW range suits most living rooms, including larger ones when run toward the top of its range. We size it to your room properly on the free home survey.
