Who the British Fires New Forest 650 Inset Electric Fire suits best
The New Forest 650 is the square one, and that format is its whole argument: at 654mm by 654mm it fills a chimney breast or a compact feature wall the way a portrait painting fills a frame. It suits smaller sitting rooms, snugs and bedrooms where the landscape fires would be too wide, and its deep log bed gives it a realism the size does not prepare you for.
From the survey
Installation notes for the British Fires New Forest 650 Inset Electric Fire
It needs a 150mm recess, the shallowest in the New Forest range, so it can be built into an existing chimney breast without deep excavation. We form the opening, run a concealed fused spur with a qualified electrician where needed, and finish the reveal so the fire sits flush. The choice of Signature logs or hand-finished Deluxe Real Logs is made at order.
An honest steer
How it compares with similar models
The rest of the New Forest family is landscape: the 870 is the next step where you want width, and the sizes run up to the 2400 for full media walls. The 650 is the only square, so if the space is taller than it is wide, the decision usually makes itself. Its price also makes it the gentlest entry into British Fires quality.
Fitting it locally
Fitting the British Fires New Forest 650 Inset Electric Fire in Yorkshire homes
The square format was made for the chimney breasts of the corridor: we can set a 650 into a period breast in a Leeds or York terrace and keep the original proportions of the room. Fully electric, so there is no flue, no sweep and no smoke control question.

Common questions
British Fires New Forest 650 Inset Electric Fire FAQs
Why choose the square New Forest 650?
Because most fireplaces are taller than they are wide. The square 654mm format fills a chimney breast naturally where a landscape fire would leave awkward space above, and the deep log bed keeps the flame picture realistic.
How deep does the New Forest 650 recess need to be?
A minimum of 150mm, the shallowest in the range, which is why it can often be built into an existing chimney breast rather than a purpose-built wall. We measure and confirm on the free survey.
What is the difference between Signature and Deluxe Real Logs?
Signature logs are the standard moulded set; Deluxe Real Logs are hand-finished from casts of real timber for the most convincing bed. We show you both options before you order.
Does the New Forest 650 need servicing or a chimney?
No flue, no chimney and no annual sweep. It runs from a concealed fused spur, with the electrical connection made by a qualified electrician where needed.
