Natural stone changes with the light and the room, so all our surveyors carry a full set of samples. That makes it far easier to choose the finish that complements your interior, whether you are after a soft honed limestone, a characterful gritstone or a contemporary porcelain. Every fireplace is then handcrafted to order and cut to suit your room.

Stone fireplaces, answered plainly

What stone do you use for fireplaces?

A range of natural stones including limestone, sandstone and gritstone, as well as marble and the latest porcelain surfaces. Our surveyors carry samples so you can compare materials in your own home and light.

Can a stone fireplace be made to measure?

Yes. Each one is handcrafted to order and can be made to your exact dimensions, with the hearth precision cut and shaped to suit your chimney breast, flooring or chosen stove.

Does a stone fireplace work with a wood burning stove?

Yes. We fit an Antique Leather granite hearth and border slips that form a durable heat barrier between the stove and the surround, and confirm the correct clearances on the home survey.

How much does a stone fireplace cost?

It depends on the stone, the size and the work involved. The Sanderson limestone surround, for example, starts from £1,250, and we give you one clear written quote for the full installation after your free home survey.
