Can your company sign off and register with Hetas an installation completed by another company
Unfortunately, we cannot simply inspect and sign off an installation completed by another company, as we cannot guarantee the safety and integrity of the existing installation from a visual inspection alone.
The only way we can issue a HETAS certificate and register the installation is for us to completely remove the existing flue assembly and reinstall the system ourselves. This allows us to inspect all components, check the installation, and take full responsibility for the completed work.
The cost to carry out this work would be £1,000 T&Cs apply.
Please note that if, during the process, we identify any issues with the existing components or goods used in the original installation, these may need to be replaced. Any replacement components or additional work required would be charged separately.
Does my chimney need a stainless-steel flue liner?
We only install woodburning and multifuel stoves with a suitable stainless-steel flue liner. For woodburning stoves, we generally use 316-grade stainless steel, while for multifuel appliances we recommend 904-grade stainless steel due to its greater resistance to the more corrosive conditions associated with burning solid fuels.
Modern stoves are highly efficient, which means the flue gases can be cooler than with older appliances. Installing a correctly sized flue liner helps maintain the temperature and flow of the flue gases throughout the masonry chimney.
A correctly installed liner also helps improve the performance of the appliance and reduces the risk of condensation, tar and creosote deposits building up within the chimney, which can contribute to chimney fires.
