Is it right for you?
Who the ACR T400 ECO BG Cassette Stove suits best
The T400 ECO BG takes everything the standard T400 does for a 16 inch opening and dresses it in a black glass door, which reads as a crisp dark panel when the stove is off and disappears behind the flames when it is lit. It is the pick for modernised rooms, where the fireplace should feel contemporary rather than cottagey.
From the survey
Installation notes for the ACR T400 ECO BG Cassette Stove
Identical fitting requirements to the standard T400: a 16 inch opening, a constructional hearth (which we check for on the survey, since cassette hearth temperatures run above 100 degrees), a 125mm flue and a choice of three or four sided trim frames. The glass front wipes clean like any stove glass, helped by the airwash.
An honest steer
How it compares with similar models
Against the standard T400 the only difference is the black glass face; performance, price and warranty are identical, so it is purely a styling decision. Against the T550 BG the difference is scale: the 550 fills an 18 inch opening, gives a wider view and takes 40cm logs. If your chimney breast has the bigger opening, the extra width is usually worth having.
Fitting it locally
Fitting the ACR T400 ECO BG Cassette Stove in Yorkshire homes
We suggest the BG most often in renovated terraces and semis around Leeds and York where the room has gone modern but the chimney breast remains. The black glass front sits particularly well above a slate or honed granite hearth with a painted Glasroc chamber. DEFRA approved for the smoke control areas.

Common questions
ACR T400 ECO BG Cassette Stove FAQs
What does the BG in T400 ECO BG mean?
Black glass. The BG model wears a contemporary black glass door in place of the standard face. Mechanically the two stoves are identical, so the choice is purely about the look you want.
Does the black glass door stay clean?
It cleans like any stove glass and the airwash system keeps deposits down in normal use with dry wood. A wipe when cold brings the crisp black panel look straight back.
Can the T400 BG burn smokeless fuels?
Yes, like all four ACR cassettes it is a multifuel design and burns seasoned logs or authorised smokeless fuels, with the DEFRA exemption covering wood in smoke control areas.
Is a cassette stove harder to service than a freestanding one?
No, an annual service and sweep covers it the same way. The cassette format changes the fitting requirements, not the maintenance, and we offer the same yearly service visit on every stove we install.
