Is it right for you?

Who the ACR T400 ECO Cassette Stove suits best

The T400 ECO is the neat answer for a standard 16 inch fireplace opening: a built-in cassette stove that gives you a real wood fire flush with the wall, no freestanding body and no chamber build. It suits period homes that want the original fireplace working again without changing the look of the room, and modern rooms that want a real fire with clean lines.

From the survey

Installation notes for the ACR T400 ECO Cassette Stove

The key difference from our freestanding stoves is the hearth: as a cassette, the T400 needs a constructional hearth because the hearth temperature can exceed 100 degrees. We check what is already behind your opening on the survey. It takes a 125mm flue, fits a standard 16 inch opening, and comes with a choice of three or four sided frames for a flush finish.

An honest steer

How it compares with similar models

Its twin, the T400 ECO BG, is the same stove wearing a contemporary black glass door for a sleeker face. The larger T550 fits an 18 inch opening and takes 40cm logs instead of 25cm. So the decision tree is simple: opening size first, then plain or black glass front. All four cassettes share the DEFRA exemption and 10 year warranty.

Fitting it locally

Fitting the ACR T400 ECO Cassette Stove in Yorkshire homes

The 16 inch opening the T400 is built for is everywhere in the pre-war terraces of Leeds, York and Wakefield, which makes this the cassette we propose when a period fireplace should keep its original proportions but work like a modern stove. DEFRA approved for the smoke control areas those terraces sit in.

Common questions

ACR T400 ECO Cassette Stove FAQs

Will the ACR T400 fit my fireplace?

It is designed for a standard 16 inch opening, the classic size in pre-war terraces. We measure your opening on the free home survey and confirm the frame option that gives the cleanest finish.

Does the T400 need a special hearth?

Yes, a constructional hearth, because cassette stoves run hotter at the hearth than freestanding stoves on legs. Many period fireplaces already have one; we check yours on the survey before anything is ordered.

What is the difference between the T400 ECO and the T400 ECO BG?

The door. The BG wears a contemporary black glass front, the standard model a classic face. Underneath they are identical: same 5kW output, same efficiency, same DEFRA exemption, same price.

What logs does the T400 take?

Logs up to 25cm, a touch shorter than standard cut, which is worth knowing when you order wood. If you want a cassette that takes 40cm logs, the T550 in the 18 inch opening size does.
