Who the ACR T550 ECO Cassette Stove suits best
The T550 ECO is the cassette for the larger 18 inch opening: a wider window, a wider firebox that takes full 40cm logs, and an A+ efficiency rating. It suits period homes with a more generous chimney breast and anyone who found the 16 inch cassettes a size too small for the wall they sit in.
From the survey
Installation notes for the ACR T550 ECO Cassette Stove
Like all cassettes it requires a constructional hearth, which we verify on the survey, and it takes a 125mm flue into a lined chimney. The 620mm width needs the full 18 inch opening; where an existing opening is between sizes we advise whether opening out to suit the T550 or trimming down to the T400 gives the better finished wall.

How it compares with similar models
Over the T400 you gain a wider flame picture, 40cm log capacity and an A+ rating for a higher appliance price. The BG version adds the black glass face at the same price as the standard. Output is the same sensible 5kW across all four cassettes, so the choice is opening size and styling, never heat.
Fitting it locally
Fitting the ACR T550 ECO Cassette Stove in Yorkshire homes
The 18 inch opening suits the larger Victorian and Edwardian fireplaces of Harrogate, Ilkley and the better streets of Leeds and York, where the chimney breast carries a bigger original opening. DEFRA approved for wood burning in the smoke control areas those homes often sit in.

Common questions
ACR T550 ECO Cassette Stove FAQs
What is the difference between the ACR T550 and T400?
Size. The T550 fits an 18 inch opening with a wider window and takes 40cm logs; the T400 fits a 16 inch opening and takes 25cm logs. Output is 5kW on both, so the right one is the one your opening and wall proportions ask for.
Does the T550 take standard logs?
Yes, up to 40cm, which is the common standard cut, so there is no trimming or special ordering. Its firebox is the practical advantage over the smaller T400.
What hearth does the T550 need?
A constructional hearth, as with all cassette stoves, because hearth temperatures can exceed 100 degrees. We check what your fireplace already has on the free home survey.
Is the T550 efficient?
It is rated A+ at 75.4% gross efficiency and is DEFRA approved for smoke control areas, with the same 10 year ACR warranty as the rest of the cassette range.
