Who the Fire FX Atlas 2 Wood Burning Stove suits best
The Atlas 2 is the one to choose when the fire will be seen from more than one direction. Its panoramic side windows give a 180 degree view of the flames, so in an open-plan kitchen-living space the fire performs for the sofa, the table and the island all at once. The cast iron top plate adds a quality touch, and output stretches to 6.2kW for larger spaces.
From the survey
Installation notes for the Fire FX Atlas 2 Wood Burning Stove
Like its siblings it takes a 150mm flue from the top or rear and carries an integrated external air connection, so a room-sealed installation on a twin-wall system is straightforward. At just over a metre tall it has real presence; we check sight lines and walking routes around it on the survey so the stove commands the room without crowding it.
An honest steer
How it compares with similar models
Against the Atlas 1 you gain the side glass, the cast top and a little more output for a modest step in price. Against the Atlas 3 you give up 100mm of height and the extended glass line but keep the same panoramic view for less. In most rooms the 2 is the sweet spot of the family; the 3 wins where ceiling height lets the taller body breathe.
Fitting it locally
Fitting the Fire FX Atlas 2 Wood Burning Stove in Yorkshire homes
DEFRA exempt and Ecodesign compliant for the smoke control areas. The 180 degree view earns its keep in the open-plan barn conversions and extended farmhouses we work on across Ryedale, the Wolds and the dales edge, where the fire is visible across a big shared space.

Common questions
Fire FX Atlas 2 Wood Burning Stove FAQs
What makes the Atlas 2 different from the Atlas 1?
Panoramic side windows for a 180 degree view of the fire, a cast iron top plate, a slightly taller body and output up to 6.2kW. The Atlas 1 shows the fire from the front only. If the stove will be seen from several angles, the 2 is worth the step up.
How much space does the Atlas 2 heat?
With output up to 6.2kW it suits larger living rooms and open-plan spaces. As a rough guide allow 1kW per 14 cubic metres. We measure the space and recommend honestly on the free survey, because an oversized stove burns badly.
Can the Atlas 2 draw air from outside?
Yes. It has an integrated external air connection, so it can take its combustion air directly from outside. That suits airtight modern homes and lets the stove breathe properly without ventilation grilles in the room.
What flue does the Atlas 2 need?
A 150mm flue, from the top or the rear, either into a suitably lined chimney or on a twin-wall insulated system. The 150mm diameter is a detail some quotes miss, and we specify it correctly from the start.
