Who the Fire FX Echo 5 Wood Burning Stove suits best
The Echo 5 is for rooms with clean, modern lines: renovated terraces, extensions and contemporary living rooms where the stove should look architectural rather than rustic. Its 5kW nominal output, with a working range of 3.5 to 7.5kW, suits most average living rooms, and the wide window makes the fire feel bigger than the compact body suggests.
It is also one of the easiest stoves on the range to place, because it only needs a 12mm decorative hearth rather than a full constructional one, which keeps the fitting simpler in many rooms.
From the survey
Installation notes for the Fire FX Echo 5 Wood Burning Stove
On the survey we check the flue route first: the Echo takes a 125mm flue from the top or the rear, so it works both in a lined chimney and on a twin-wall system in a home with no chimney. The direct air connection matters in newer, airtight homes, because the stove can draw its combustion air from outside instead of from the room. Maximum log length is 330mm, worth knowing when you order wood.
An honest steer
How it compares with similar models
The honest comparison is with its sister stove, the Eton 5. Inside they are the same machine: same 82.7% efficiency, same output range, same A+ rating and the same price. The choice is purely the face you prefer, the Echo minimalist and frameless, the Eton traditional with a cast iron door. If you want a taller statement piece instead, look at the Atlas range.
Fitting it locally
Fitting the Fire FX Echo 5 Wood Burning Stove in Yorkshire homes
DEFRA-exempt and Ecodesign compliant, so it can burn wood legally at the many Leeds and York addresses covered by smoke control rules, which we check for your exact address on the survey. The direct air option earns its keep in the airtight new-build estates around Leeds, Wakefield and York where a room-sealed installation draws better.

Common questions
Fire FX Echo 5 Wood Burning Stove FAQs
Is the Fire FX Echo 5 suitable for a smoke control area?
Yes. The Echo 5 is DEFRA exempt, so it is approved to burn wood in smoke control areas such as most of Leeds. We confirm what applies to your address on the free home survey.
What size room will the Echo 5 heat?
Its 5kW nominal output suits a typical living room. As a rough guide, allow 1kW per 14 cubic metres of space. The working range of 3.5 to 7.5kW gives useful flexibility, and we size it properly to your room on the survey.
Can the Echo 5 be fitted in a house with no chimney?
Yes. It takes a 125mm flue from the top or rear, so it works on a twin-wall insulated flue system as well as in a lined chimney. The direct air connection also lets it draw combustion air from outside, which suits airtight modern homes.
Does the Echo 5 need a special hearth?
No. It is approved for a 12mm decorative hearth, so a slate, granite or porcelain hearth panel is usually all it needs. We confirm the hearth size and material for your room as part of the survey.
