Who the Fire FX Eton 5 Wood Burning Stove suits best
The Eton 5 is the traditionalist of the pair: a cast iron door and a large bevelled window that suit a period fireplace, a brick chamber and an oak beam. If your room is a Victorian terrace, a stone cottage or anywhere the stove should feel like it has always been there, this is the Fire FX to shortlist.
At 5kW nominal with a 3.5 to 7.5kW working range it heats a typical living room comfortably, and the 12mm hearth requirement keeps the fitting straightforward.
From the survey
Installation notes for the Fire FX Eton 5 Wood Burning Stove
Like the Echo, the Eton takes a 125mm flue from the top or the rear and offers a direct external air connection. Rear flue exit is handy in a period chamber where the stove sits well back and the flue needs to get away cleanly into the liner. It sits on a 12mm decorative hearth and takes logs up to 330mm.

How it compares with similar models
Against the Echo 5 the decision is style, nothing else: identical 82.7% efficiency, identical output, identical price. The Eton wears a classic cast door, the Echo goes frameless and modern. Against the ACR multifuel cast stoves, the Eton is wood-only; if you want the option of smokeless fuels, look at the ACR Oakdale or Rowandale instead.
Fitting it locally
Fitting the Fire FX Eton 5 Wood Burning Stove in Yorkshire homes
DEFRA exempt, covering the smoke control rules that apply at many Leeds and York addresses (checked for your address on the survey), and a natural fit for the brick chambers and oak beams we build across the period homes of the corridor, from Headingley terraces to Wetherby stone cottages.

Common questions
Fire FX Eton 5 Wood Burning Stove FAQs
What is the difference between the Fire FX Eton 5 and Echo 5?
Styling only. Both share the same 82.7% efficiency, 5kW nominal output, A+ rating and price. The Eton has a traditional cast iron door and bevelled glass, the Echo a clean frameless modern face. We bring images of both to the survey.
Is the Eton 5 wood only or multi-fuel?
The Eton 5 is a dedicated wood burning stove. A wood-only firebox burns logs very cleanly and efficiently. If you want to burn smokeless fuels as well, we would point you to one of the ACR multifuel stoves we fit.
Will the Eton 5 suit a period fireplace?
Very well. The cast iron door and classic proportions sit naturally in an opened-up period chamber with a brick or stone finish and a beam above, which is one of the most popular looks we build.
Can I burn wood on the Eton 5 in Leeds or York?
Yes. It is DEFRA exempt, so it is approved for wood burning in smoke control areas. We check the rules for your exact address as part of the free home survey.
