Who the Poppy Wood Burning Stove suits best
The Poppy is the design piece of our woodburner range: a slender Nordic cylinder with a curved door and a sculptural presence that suits corners, glazed gables and contemporary rooms. Its 4.8kW output is honest everyday heat, and its remarkably tight clearances, just 50mm to combustibles at the rear and 100mm across a corner, let it sit where boxy stoves cannot.
We fitted one in Wetherby as a corner stove on a bespoke granite hearth shaped to follow the patio door, and that install shows exactly what the Poppy does best.
From the survey
Installation notes for the Poppy Wood Burning Stove
Those tight clearances are the story of the installation: the Poppy can stand close to walls and into corners that would rule out most stoves, which opens up positions other surveys write off. It runs happily on a twin-wall flue as a freestanding feature, includes a direct external air connection for airtight homes, and is DEFRA approved.

How it compares with similar models
Its natural comparison is the Fire FX Atlas family, the other freestanding columns we fit: the Atlas is taller and more architectural, the Poppy softer and more sculptural, with usefully tighter clearances and a slightly gentler 4.8kW output. In a corner position, the Poppy usually wins on geometry alone.
Fitting it locally
Fitting the Poppy Wood Burning Stove in Yorkshire homes
Proven locally: our Wetherby case study pairs the Poppy with a granite hearth cut to the line of the patio door, a corner installation most stoves could not have made. DEFRA approved for smoke control areas, so it works from Leeds townhouses to coast-road new builds.

Common questions
Poppy Wood Burning Stove FAQs
Why is the Poppy good for corner installations?
Clearances. It needs just 100mm to combustibles across a corner and 50mm at the rear, dramatically tighter than most stoves, so it sits into corners and close to walls that would rule other models out. Our Wetherby case study is exactly that installation.
What size room suits the Poppy?
Its 4.8kW nominal output suits typical living rooms and open corners of larger spaces. As ever we size it to the room volume on the free home survey rather than guessing.
Does the Poppy work in a home with no chimney?
Yes, beautifully. Freestanding on a twin-wall flue is its natural pose, and the direct external air connection suits modern airtight builds.
Is the Poppy DEFRA approved?
Yes, it is DEFRA approved for smoke control areas, so it can burn wood legally at smoke-controlled addresses in Leeds, York and beyond, with the current rules for your exact address confirmed on the survey.
