Wood burning stoves in Harrogate
North Yorkshire
Premium stove and fireplace installation across Harrogate and district.
Installation in Harrogate
Harrogate's grand Victorian and Edwardian villas, along with its newer executive homes, are perfectly suited to a stove or fireplace as a statement centrepiece. We have completed bespoke installations here, including a striking three-sided stove in a new garden room with custom cabinetry and a Dekton hearth.
From lining a period chimney to designing a contemporary media wall, we take care of the whole project to a high finish. We cover Harrogate and nearby Knaresborough, Pannal and Beckwithshaw, working alongside architects and builders on new build and renovation projects.
Where cleaner-burning or smoke-control questions matter, we specify Ecodesign-ready, energy-efficient stoves where appropriate and explain the rules in our DEFRA and smoke control guide.

made to measure hearths in HarrogateLocal knowledge
Harrogate rooms are generous. The Victorian and Edwardian villas around the Stray, Duchy and Montpellier have high ceilings and large bays, and the most common mistake we correct is an undersized stove struggling in a big space, or an oversized one run shut down and burning dirty. Getting the output right for the volume of the room is the whole game, and it is exactly what the home survey is for. Our guide to choosing the right stove explains the sizing.
These period homes usually have original chimneys worth keeping, big flues that want a correctly sized liner, and openings that deserve a proper surround and hearth rather than an off-the-shelf kit. Much of central Harrogate is conservation area, so we keep the work sympathetic to the building.
Harrogate is also where we do our most ambitious contemporary work: garden rooms, extensions and renovations where the fire is designed in from the start. The three-sided Contura below, with its custom cabinetry and Dekton hearth, was built alongside the client’s joiner, and we regularly work with architects and builders across the district. For newer executive homes without a chimney, a media wall with an inset electric fire is often the cleaner answer.

Harrogate questions
As a rough guide, allow 1kW of output per 14 cubic metres of room. Harrogate’s high-ceilinged villas often need 6kW or more where a modern insulated home would take 5kW. We measure the room on the free survey and recommend the right output, not the biggest stove.
Yes, and it is some of our favourite work. A twin-wall insulated flue means no chimney is needed, and we design the hearth, chamber and flue route in with your builder or architect so the fire looks designed in, not added on.
Regularly. On renovation and new-build projects across Harrogate we handle the flue design, the hearth and chamber spec and the certified installation, and coordinate with the trades so the fire is right first time.
Rarely. Most installations use the existing chimney and change nothing outside. Where an external flue is needed we plan the route carefully and advise on anything that needs checking with the council before work starts.
A straightforward supply and fit typically runs from around £1,800 to £3,000, lining the chimney usually lands between £2,500 and £4,500, and bespoke work like a three-sided stove or a designed media wall is quoted to the project. One written price after the free survey, everything included.
