Installation in Leeds
Leeds has everything from Victorian and Edwardian terraces in Chapel Allerton and Headingley to substantial period villas in Roundhay, Adel and Alwoodley, and plenty of newer homes with no chimney at all. Each needs a different approach, whether that is lining an original chimney, opening up a bricked-up fireplace, or fitting a twin-wall flue from scratch.
As a Leeds-based, HETAS-registered installer, Carl knows the local housing well and handles the whole job himself, from the first home survey to the signed-off certificate. Being local means an easy survey visit and a tidy, properly certified installation.
Where cleaner-burning or smoke-control questions matter, we specify Ecodesign-ready, energy-efficient stoves where appropriate and explain the rules in our DEFRA and smoke control guide.
For terraces, villas and chimney-breast openings that need a new base, the Leeds hearth page covers made to measure hearths in Leeds in more detail.

made to measure hearths in LeedsLocal knowledge
Much of Leeds sits inside a smoke control area, so the stove matters as much as the fit. We install DEFRA-exempt stoves that are approved to burn wood legally in the city, and we confirm exactly what applies to your street on the home survey. Nearly all of the stoves we fit carry the exemption, so it rarely limits your choice.
In the Victorian and Edwardian terraces of Headingley, Chapel Allerton and Meanwood, the story is usually the chimney. Original flues are oversized for a modern stove and most have never been lined, which weakens the draw and lets tar build up. A correctly sized stainless steel liner fixes that, and where a fireplace has been bricked up over the years we open it back out, form the chamber and make good so the finished room looks like it was always meant to have a fire.
The larger villas of Roundhay, Alwoodley and Adel tend to want more than a stove in a hole: a proper chamber, a hearth cut to the proportions of the room and an oak or stone beam above the opening. And on the newer estates around Horsforth, Moortown and Cross Gates, often searched as Crossgates, where there is often no chimney at all, we either run a twin-wall insulated flue for a real woodburner or build a clean media wall with an inset electric fire.

Most of Leeds is a smoke control area, but you can still burn wood legally on a DEFRA-exempt stove. Nearly all the stoves we fit carry the exemption, and we confirm what applies to your address on the home survey.
Yes. Terraces in Headingley, Chapel Allerton and similar streets are some of our most common installs. The chimney usually needs lining and the old opening often needs opening back out, and we handle all of it, including the making good.
Two good ones. A twin-wall insulated flue lets you have a real woodburner with no chimney at all, or a media wall with an inset electric fire gives you the focal point with no flue anywhere. We talk through both on the survey.
A straightforward supply and fit typically runs from around £1,800 to £3,000. Jobs that need the chimney lining, which most Leeds terraces do, usually land between £2,500 and £4,500. After a free survey you get one written price with everything included.
