Log burner installation cost: published package prices

This page is for buyers who want Carl Finnell's actual published package prices, not broad budget ranges. It shows the current installed offer prices, what each package covers and why the final figure still needs a home survey.

Real figures

Published package prices

The installed examples currently published by Carl Finnell run from £2,450 for a stove package to £3,150 for a cassette stove and natural limestone fireplace package. The full package values are £3,780 and £4,425 before the current subsidies.

Those figures are useful because they include the work that often gets left out of cheaper quotes: the flue or liner, hearth, chamber or making good, installation consumables, commissioning and HETAS registration.

Included properly

What a complete installation normally covers

Appliance and finish

The stove or cassette, fireplace opening, hearth, chamber finish, beam or surround where the package includes one.

Flue system

A suitable chimney liner or twin-wall route, with the closure plate, adaptor, cowl and visible stove pipe specified for the job.

Safety and paperwork

Carbon monoxide alarm, commissioning, HETAS certification and Building Control notification handled after the fit.

What changes the price

The survey decides the final figure

A straightforward log burner installation into a sound, usable chimney is a different job from opening a blocked fireplace, building a new chamber and lining a difficult flue. If there is no chimney, a twin-wall insulated flue can add more components, more labour and sometimes roof or external wall access.

Hearth material changes the cost too. Standard slate is simpler than honed black granite or Antique Leather granite, and a shaped or made-to-measure hearth takes more work than a plain rectangle. A beam, surround, chamber lining or full chimney-breast plastering should be priced clearly, not discovered after the quote.

Access matters. Tall stacks, awkward rooflines and exposed terminals may need scaffolding, specialist access or a different cowl. Where an old appliance has a supply that must be disconnected, the published offers include a Gas Safe engineer cap-and-seal option at £125.

Next step

Get one written price for the whole job

The safest way to price a log burner is a home survey. Carl checks the room, chimney, hearth, opening, ventilation and finish, then gives one written quote with the appliance, materials, labour and certificate included.
